Every time you open your home to a cat in need, you create space for another cat waiting for a second chance. Foster homes provide love, safety, and stability to cats who may be be scared, recovering from illness, adjusting after life on the streets, or simply waiting for their forever family. Whether it’s for a few weeks or a few months, your compassion gives them the opportunity to heal, grow, and thrive.
At Montana’s Little Cat Rescue, we provide all necessary veterinary care and supplies to help make fostering as rewarding and stress-free as possible. You provide the love, patience, and safe home. We’ll provide the support every step of the way.

Fostering Requirements
Be At Least 20 Years Old
At least one applicant listed on the foster application must be 20 years of age or older.
Everyone in the Home Must Agree
All members of the household should be aware of and be in agreement with bringing a foster cat into the home.
Ability to Attend Veterinary Appointments
Fosters must be able to transport their foster cat to one of our partnered veterinary clinics for scheduled appointments as needed. Most foster placements should expect a minimum of two veterinary visits during the foster period.
Designated Isolation Space
Fosters must have a separate room or designated area where their foster cat can be safely isolated from resident pets for approximately the first two weeks, or longer if medically necessary.
Resident Pets Must Be Current on Veterinary Care
For the health and safety of all animals, resident pets must be current on vaccinations and routine veterinary care. Applicants should be prepared to provide current veterinary records upon request.
Provide a Safe, Loving Home
Fosters must demonstrate the ability and commitment to provide a safe, stable, healthy, and loving temporary home while their foster cat awaits adoption.

What We Provide
Montana’s Little Cat Rescue supplies everything you need to help your foster cat succeed, including:
- Food
- Litter
- Litter box (if needed)
- Toys and enrichment
- Veterinary care
- Vaccinations
- Flea prevention and deworming
- Medications (if needed)
- Spay or neuter surgery
- Ongoing guidance and support from our foster team

1. Complete Your Foster Application
Tell us about yourself! Your application helps us learn about your home, lifestyle, experience, and preferences so we can thoughtfully match you with the cats who need you most.
2. Foster Onboarding
Once approved, you’ll complete our foster onboarding process. We’ll review foster expectations, answer your questions, provide helpful resources, and ensure you feel confident and supported before welcoming your foster cat home.
3. Welcome Your Foster Cat
The best part begins! Once onboarding is complete, we’ll carefully match you with a cat in need based on your home, experience, and preferences. We’ll coordinate pickup details, provide all necessary supplies, and remain available throughout your foster journey to answer questions and offer support every step of the way.
